Gas is a non renewable resource, this means that it cannot be produced or generated at the same rate as its consumption rate nowadays. Once, a nonrenewable resource is depletes, it will no longer provide service to us. Personally, I feel as if everyone is ignoring the fact that gas is a non-renewable resource as with time, I see more production systems depending on it. Gas is not only used for industrial purposes, it is now also being used domestically. So what happens when so much of a country relies on a resource? It causes the demand to increase, the supply falls and an increase in its price.

Even so, I see every country increasing its reliance on gas. With the increasing reliance, countries are also experiencing very high prices of gas. However, every country has different gas prices. This is because the distribution and tax effect it is over all prices. Recently, I have noticed that irrespective of the location, every country has and is still experiencing high gas prices. From the year of 2008, most countries have seen an increase in their prices and the lucky few who saw a decrease, eventually faced a higher increase after a couple of months. Even after some years of this price fluctuation worldwide, everyone is complaining about the high gas prices. So what can we do to stop these gas prices from skyrocketing even more?

In order to stop gas prices from hiking even more, we can take the following measures; find an alternative or increase its supply. When it comes to finding an alternative for gas, we can make an effort to discover alternative energy sources. We should aim, to find a replacement of using oil to put the lid on the increasing gas prices. In fact, I feel that finding an alternative is the best long-term solution to this problem. The high gas prices can be controlled by increasing the supply of gas. Increase in supply can be done by drilling more and by pushing companies to produce more gas. The more oil a country has, the more ability to produce larger amounts of gas; hence the overall increase in gas supply. Companies can also be pushed to increase their ability to produce gas. This means, that companies will have to add more refineries to increase overall capacity of producing gas. However, these methods of controlling the high gas prices, is not sustainable.

Because, gas is a non-renewable source and one day it will finish, thus its supply will be zero one day, which means the demand will be even higher, resulting in even higher prices. Therefore, it is time that we should shift to alternatives and lower our gas consumption. If the above measures are not adopted, countries should expect their gas prices to stay high and maybe even increase in the future. High gas prices tend to affect the overall economies ability to progress; everything in a country becomes very costly and thus economies face recessions. The effect of a recession is passed on to us and we have a difficult time making end meet. Thus, for the welfare of every economy, we must act now and put a lid on the high gas prices.
